JAVA(tm) JUMPSTART(tm) DEVELOPMENT SOLUTION RELEASED.  Provides access to
over 600 megabytes of Java software and technology resources on CD ROM, and
includes the Java Development Kit (JDK), APIs, development tools, online
books, and documentation for building 100% Pure Java(tm) applets,
applications, and JavaBeans(tm) components.

The Java JumpStart software supports the following operating environments:
Sun Microsystems(tm) Solaris(tm) 2.5 or later (SPARC(tm)/x86), Microsoft
Windows NT 4.0 or later, and Microsoft Windows 95 or later.  The purchase
prices is US$ 69.95 plus shipping and handling.  For more information, see:

http://java.sun.com/javastore/javajumpstart/index.html

JDBC(tm) 2.0 API NOW AVAILABLE.  Includes new features to make programming
easier and faster, including support for SQL3 data types, scrollable
cursors, and for storing or retrieving Java language data types.  The API
also provides Java technology developers with a uniform interface to a wide
range of relational databases, and provides a common base on which
higher-level tools and interfaces can be built.  JDBC is now a standard
part of the Java programming language and is included in the JDK.  To
access, see

http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/index.html

JAVAMAIL API VERSION 1.1 SPECIFICATION RELEASED.  This API is implemented
as a Java language standard extension, and provides a set of abstract
classes that model a mail system, and a platform- and protocol-independent
framework to build Java language-based mail and messaging applications.
Sun Microsystems offers a royalty-free reference implementation in binary
form that developers will be able to use and ship.  The release also
includes implementations of the IMAP and SMTP service providers and
implementations of the core JavaMail packages -- javax.mail and
javax.mail.internet.  To access, see:

JAVA DYNAMIC MANAGEMENT KIT(tm) (Java DMK) 2.0 ANNOUNCED.  Java DMK 2.0 is
a foundation technology for service-driven networks, and provides the tools
and management services for developers needing to rapidly create smart,
dynamic Java technology agents for network, system, application, and
service management.  The software enables Java platform developers,
equipment manufacturers, system management software houses, and
telecommunication equipment providers to efficiently add dynamic management
capabilities to their applications and equipment.

Java DMK 2.0 also provides a new framework, based on the JavaBeans
component model, that opens the door to new types of lightweight, flexible
management applications and services that can be created, deployed,
enhanced, or deleted in real time.  In addition, the software includes an
SNMP agent toolkit so that Java DMK agents can be integrated in existing
SNMP-based environments.

JAVA 2D API SAMPLE PROGRAMS NOW AVAILABLE.  Sample programs that
demonstrate the new Java 2D features available in JDK 1.2, including:
Arc2D open, chord, and pie arcs; animated bezier curve controls for
changing graphic attributes; animated clipping of an image and composited
shapes; rectangle scaling; image shearing; creating colors with an alpha
value; animation of compositing shapes, text, and images fading in and out;
rendering text as an outline shape; and more.  To access, see:

HOTJAVA BROWSER 1.1.4 RELEASED.  A highly customizable modular solution for
creating and deploying web-enabled applications across a variety of
environments and devices.  The browser's small footprint makes it an ideal
scalable solution for devices ranging from NCs and desktop PCs to PDAs,
kiosks, screen phones, and consumer devices.  The newest version of HotJava
Browser uses the JavaBeans(tm) component model, designed to give developers
an edge on getting Internet and intranet products to market quickly and
cost effectively.  For more information, or to try free for 30 days, see:

http://java.sun.com/products/hotjava/1.1.4

JAVA SERVLET DEVELOPMENT KIT(JSDK) 2.0 RELEASED.  JSDK contains the
technology necessary for implementing servlets on web servers, including a
servlet engine for running and testing servlets, the javax.servlet package
sources, API documentation for the javax.servlet and sun.servlet packages,
and sample support for Netscape, Microsoft, and Apache web servers.  For
more information, see:

http://java.sun.com/products/java-server/servlets

RMI REGISTRY SERVICE PROVIDER RELEASED.  This service provider enhances the
power of applications that use the Java Naming and Directory Interface(tm)
(JNDI).  Applications can access the RMI Registry using the Java platform's
generic naming interface.  Additionally, the RMI Registry can link to JNDI-
accessible directories such as LDAP to provide location-independent access
to remote objects.  To access, see:
